Kashmir by elementary kids…Music teachers, take note!

I haven’t linked to Nate Claiborne in awhile, but his music blog for this Monday delighted me. It’s a video of a group of children aged 7-12 years playing a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir almost exclusively on percussion instruments such as xylophones and glockenspiels.More music teachers should do

And why not? I think if school bands did more things like this, especially some of the 60s, 70s, 80s music that’s both fun and great musically to be learning and playing, there’d be many more kids itching to pick up instruments. I know I would have been more inclined to work at it if I’d seen kids my age in my school playing things I knew with competence and confidence.
